This course is designed and updated based on common questions that we get on phlebotomy courses:
What questions or concerns do you have that haven't been addressed so far (or you need addressing again?
SO NOW, IT'S OVER TO YOU FOR PRACTICE!
Ideally, have a go on a model first! (Models don't care if you mess it up, and neither do bananas)
BUT remember: It's not all about the stabby bit.
Don't forget to also refine your skills in introducing yourself, finding veins, using a tourniquet, taking consent, preparing & handling equipment, labeling sample tubes, infection control, dealing with anxiety, and spotting 'bad practice' in colleagues. WATCH how others do it and see what tips you can pick up (ideally not the bad habits!).
All the criteria to be a good phlebotomist are listed in the competency workbook to guide and monitor your skill development. Have you got a local policy to read?
Hopefully you can start signing some self-assessment parts straight away!
You got this!!
THANK YOU for your attention and contributions during this course. I hope you are going away feeling enthusiastic about your practice and getting stuck in.
But most of all....
THANK YOU for keeping everyone as safe as you can with one of the BEST diagnostic medical tools we have for finding out what's going in someone's body! STAY AWESOME!
